Why Does The Ego Hurt?

The Ego is our negative state of mind, and it either makes us happy or unhappy. Whenever it has been satisfied, it might give you some pleasure. Whenever it’s not satisfied, it might hurt you. At any cost, it hurts. It hurts others when you’re satisfied. It hurts ‘you’ when others are not involved in it. Confused?

For example: if you abuse people, trying to insult them, they don’t care about you and remain cool or move ahead unaffected.  This means their ego or existence remains untouched by your behavior and, instead, you get hurt,  by their behavior. That will fire you and think to yourself: “That idiot did not reply to me or poke me!”. You just get angry and think of hurting him again, way more intensely next time. On another condition, as you wished him to be sent into fire or be insulted, and you succeed,  that person returned to you with the required vigor, vulgarity, and violence. Or maybe they had been insulted, but on the inside and more violently. In the first example, you’re hurt, and in the second one either you’re hurt or the other person feels hurt. However, you feel pleased by doing it; But it is a false pleasure because it has hurt others. True pleasure pleases all. When we laugh, we need to laugh together. Without hurting anybody. True jokers do not laugh at others’ pain or hardship. They know they have to laugh at their own character. This is the true character. True ego. Now, what is the ego? I am Mr. A and I do belong to Y. Mr. Y is a king, and so on…. As long as our identity belongs to our physical plane, it means that we are in our ego zone. My name is….., I can do this…., only I can do this… I’ve done this… no one can do that..!

The ego is our bondage. It identifies only with us. It doesn’t see or recommend others, but rather, wants to destroy others’ existence. However, when our ego gets to submerge into a higher realm of our existence, that said, into our higher self, and it tries to become a personality of the cosmos, then it starts disobeying all that an egoistic person claims. That is a super personality, although they identify with the quality of wisdom that suggests they belong to this world. This nature has provided for them all the necessities that were responsible for their existence,  and, in their quest for life, every minute/detail is worth praising with gratitude and acceptance! We’ve discussed earlier that a physical personality is just the opposite of that of a metaphysical personality. Here, we can see it. Do you want your ego to hurt you? The ego loves to destroy equality. The ego doesn’t want all people to live on the same plane. The ego always asks – who are you? It never asks – who am I? The ego loves social stratification- low, high, medium, superior/inferior…, and so on. The ego is selfish. It accepts only your own requirements.  Although it always proclaims about being love and spreading love, in reality, it goes just the opposite direction. It spreads hatred. It can’t love even itself ( the person). Others are seen just as slaves. The ego wants to command all and everything.

On the other hand, love doesn’t know all these. Love violates the barrier existing in the world, and knows how to submerge. It doesn’t enslave anyone and loves to be free. Freedom is the key. By submerging ourselves into a higher cause, we spread and become infinite. See the previous blog about how a river loses its identity and submerges into an ocean to become vast and part of this Cosmos. What game is there? It’s only a thought,  as simple as that! No hard practices, no coaching institution, no big books, just a simple thought that makes you awaken! It doesn’t mean you lose your identity. It’s your name and personality. Mangos, bananas, oranges, guavas, and apples…. all have their own identity, but they never fight to claim their superiority. I do exist so do you! The rose doesn’t say that it will not flourish beside a Jasmine, and the Jasmine has no problem with a Calendula plant. They accept their own, as well as others’, identities! As I’m here, so you’re there! We all, together, make this cosmos! When you encounter your ego and understand it, you will understand how it loves duality. When there is duality, sure there will be a conflict. When there is a conflict, it means you’re limited, restrained, and in chains. How a chained mind could understand this world which is unbounded and infinite? A restrained or constrained mind doesn’t deserve to see or visualize an ocean of this world. To understand this never-ending world you need to have an infinite device, too, that is your brain. When you open your brain, you will encounter your wisdom. And that wisdom will lead and show you the path! To visualize all of the above, you need a cool mind. It means you need a meditating mind.
